Overview

A pendulum is a weight attached to a fixed point, swinging back and forth in a predictable manner called simple harmonic motion (SHM).

Pendulum

A pendulum is a weight suspended from a fixed point that swings back and forth. Its motion is regular and predictable. As it swings, it passes through its lowest point, called the "bottom" or "lowest point," and reaches its highest points, called "peaks." The time it takes to swing from one peak to the next and back is called the "period."
